Week #41 ('20) Art Appreciation

Welcome to my weekly Art Appreciation post, where I provide a list of some amazing album covers, single art, and random art that have come out within the past week. I’ll give you the artist/photographer/painter/magician’s name, as well as any social media or websites where you can go and check out more of their work. Click here to go back and see some other Art Appreciation posts.

I’m kind of behind this week so I don’t have any sort of crazy art-theory shit for y’all to think about this time. Stay cool, keep looking at these art pieces on a deeper level, and go back and read some of these other Art Appreciation posts, which have become some of my favorite content on my website. Peace.

Remember, use this post to follow and subscribe to these artists; they deserve as much recognition as the musicians they are attached to.

Beautiful Payne, by RJ Payne

It’s rare to see a piece where it looks like the artist actually fashioned an item, like a statue or icon, to represent a project of  music, but here we are. To be fair, I’m not sure if crthebeast actually created the heart/bird situation we have going on here, but even if that’s not the case the relevance to the topics Payne spits across the album can be easily represented by this image. Beautiful Payne is about what RJ sees in the world today, with all of the horrible and positive things rolled into one; there is a feeling of hopelessness, but there is also a spirit of togetherness and a determination to not let the world beat you down. That’s exactly what’s going on with these birds here: the world is broken right now, in a way that many people alive have never seen before, but we have got to push through the pain and try to make ourselves whole again. Despite how ugly the outcome might be, trying to make a better world is better than letting that heart remain broken. If this isn’t some sort of antique glass/plaster sculpture, than the artist has done a fantastic job making it seem that way, giving the idea of an old spirit (which is exactly what RJ tries to come across as). It also seems very fragile, which is both from the age of the piece and the volatility of the issues we face today. Despite the project being short, and this image being pretty to-the-point visually, they both pack depth that goes beyond the surface level.
