MARCH 2019

Coming off three concerts in a row, my ears being destroyed by MC Ride, and me being intolerably sick... I missed out on listening to anything that came out last Friday that would have counted for March, and delayed my monthly roundup by a day. If anything good came out I'll be sure to throw it on Aprils roundup.

It would also be remiss of me to not mention Nipsey Hussle. I don't think I can stress enough how much of a loss this is to the hip-hop community and Los Angeles as a whole. For those of you who aren't aware of everything Nipsey did for his neighborhood and L.A. I urge you to look up the things he helped create during his time. The man was truly an inspiration and a role model on how to responsibly wield fame and the riches that come with it. Rest in Power Nispey.

Lets get into the music 🎼

Lil Skies - Shelby

First up we have the newest effort from Lil Skies, a project called Shelby (after his mother I think?), which serves as a followup to his Soundcloud smash album last year Life of a Dark Rose. His voice can be nasally, sometimes his lyrics can be off-point, and he sings with autotune. Skies real power comes in his melodies and the much improved production quality over his last project.

DJ Muggs & Eto - Hells Roof

DJ Muggs has been on a killstreak the past two years, collaborating with the best MC's New York has to offer, from Meyhem Lauren back in 2017, Roc Marciano last year, and now his new album with Eto, entitled Hell's Roof. This album is evil, scary, and hellish in production, cutthroat and unforgiving lyrically, and paints a dark and crack-ridden picture of Eto's neighborhood in New York. By far Eto's best material, and it ranks up there as Muggs best beats. A must listen to anyone interested in dark, New York, underground hip-hop.

And that's all I got; like I said, anything I missed last Friday worth mentioning I'll throw onto next month.
