NOVEMBER 2019

Welcome to the Monthly post, where I lay out everything you may have missed over the past 30 or so days, give you a little state of the union, then lay out where we’re going in the future.

THE YEAR IS OVER. The results are in, and my top albums of the year are set and ready to go. It was incredibly tough to sort it out after the past month, with two projects from this month in particular knocking my top ten out of wack. Nonetheless, it’s over, and after sorting through 249 projects I’ve determined my top 10. Starting on December 16th, I’m going to post an album a day every work day for two weeks, ending up with my #1 on December 27th. It won’t be “write-ups” proper, but more of a celebration of the album, along with some other projects that might interest you if you liked the one in question.

So let’s talk about an elephant in the room real quick: the Podcast. So my writing takes up a lot of my time, and listening to all of this music (while also trying to find time to play video games: I still haven’t beat Borderlands 3 for Christ’s sake) leaves little time for other endeavors, especially editing an entire hour of podcast and adding all of the little bells and whistles. The system we had before had another member of the podcast doing the majority of the editing, but his job has gotten super crazy recently and now he doesn’t have time to do it either. I’m trying to come up with ideas for making this process easier, but so far no luck. Looking to 2020, I not only hope to sort out this Podcast issue we have going on, but also I hope that we can start getting people outside of the Podcast family in to talk with us (I have several local artists that have expressed interest: I see y’all and I’m working on it). I sincerely apologize to those of you who really fuck with TSDK Podcast, but I just gotta be real with y’all about the time commitments. Thank’s for being understanding and patient; we’ll get something figured out.

Now for something a bit more positive: besides the podcast, things are going fucking fantastic around here! I grind hard to get good music into the ears of you guys, and the feedback from y’all is really fucking awesome. I never expected to get noticed by the actual artists while doing this, but within the past two months that very thing has happened. Shoutout to Offset Jim for retweeting my shit last month; it’s much appreciated. But a very special shoutout to my dudes over in Delaware, Chris Skillz and Jay NiCE, who not only retweeted my POMPEii! write-up, but also sent some very encouraging words my way. I’m glad that I was able to spread this album to so many people, and being recognized by the artists themselves for my work is really a blessing. Y’all keep doing your thing out there, and I’ll keep telling people how fire it is.

December is usually one of the slowest months of the year, but I have a couple of good projects that I’m keeping my eye on: KXNG Crooked supposedly has a tape with Bronze Nazareth of all people on the way, Roddy Ricch is gearing up for his debut album after a string of stellar singles, the Free Nationals are finally putting out thier LP this year, and another posthumous Sean Price album (this time with M.O.P’s Lil Fame)

To close this guy out, I’d like to invite everyone to tune in on any of my social media/webpages. We’ll start with my RateYourMusic page, which has a comprehensive list of most of the things I’ve listened to if you want an idea of where I’ve been. I have two fronts on facebook: the offical TSDK Page that you can like and follow, and a personal group known as Drake’s Hidden Children that I’ve just recently opened up to new members.
